Welcome to Langwith Lodge Residential Home

Langwith Lodge Residential Home is a Grade II listed building, a fine neo-Georgian house, designed and constructed in the early 1900s by Louis Ambler for the Duke of Portland’s agent, having connections with the famous Welbeck Estate. On the edge of the village of Nether Langwith, it borders the famous Dukeries and Sherwood Forest.

The home offers comfortable accommodation and high-quality care, within gorgeous landscaped grounds that stretch to around eight acres, bordered by wooded countryside and a lake with an abundance of wildlife.

We work tirelessly to ensure a warm, happy and secure environment, in which the privacy and independence of residents is respected. The staff are trained in all aspects of care and will do their utmost to ensure your loved one is comfortable and well looked after.

There are several lounge areas with televisions, music and games, and two dining rooms, as well as plenty of space to explore outdoors. This includes a popular sensory garden and manicured lawns. Our activities co-ordinators will make sure your loved ones can keep up their hobbies. They also arrange visits from performers and entertainment at the home.

There is wi-fi throughout the home, so your loved ones can keep in touch via video and phone calls. We also have laptops for people to use if they wish to surf the internet or do some online shopping.

Family members and friends are welcome to visit as and when they like. Drinks and snacks are always available and we are happy to provide meals for visitors by prior arrangement.

Lakeside View

Our home has a separate suite called Lakeside View, which is specially designed for the care and support a small number of people with a dementia diagnosis. Staff are fully trained in all aspects of dementia, we follow the Kitwood Model of care and tailor our care plans to specifically meet the needs of each resident. Our staff are trained in supporting people experiencing ‘Sun downing’ and also in how to promote a calm and caring environment that assures each person that they are safe and secure.

The whole atmosphere on Lakeside view is adapted to support people in a comforting way. We use reminiscence therapy to provide reassurance and enjoyment, this often inspires lots of conversations and stories about times gone by- which we love to hear. The home is set in peaceful surroundings and we have a sensory garden to enjoy, as well as views over the lake at the home.

Meet the Manager

team-member

Zoe Searston

Zoe Searston began her career as a carer around 20 years ago and has progressed to home manager.

She says: “I was drawn to a career in care after my father was taken poorly. It was only natural that I would be the one to care for him, and I realised I’d found my calling.

“My career path hasn’t always been easy, but I have embraced every challenge as I get to know more about the people I care for. I am still learning - I don’t think we ever really stop. This is especially relevant when it comes to caring for people living with dementia. The more we get to know about the individual, the better the care we can provide. I have implemented this way of thinking throughout my career, ensuring that we look after the person and not the illness. Our residents are so special, and we love to get to know their stories as we care for them. I have a fantastic team behind me. Each member of staff treats our residents as if they were a member of their own family, and that’s how Langwith Lodge is run; we really are one big family."
