Cedar Court Nursing Home is located within the picturesque Bretby Park, near Swadlincote in south Derbyshire and offers a tranquil haven in a beautiful location. A property with bags of character, it has been renovated to a high standard, offering a comfortable, secure and friendly environment.
The home nestles on the edge of the National Forest, close to the Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire borders - ideal for motorway access and days out. This gives the people living here and their loved ones an ideal combination of accessibility and convenience, teamed with laid-back rural living.
The home provides nursing and residential care specifically for the frail and elderly. It has several lounges enabling those living here to enjoy their days wherever they feel most comfortable.
The continuation of favourite hobbies is encouraged, and we provide a packed programme of events and new pastimes for people to try.
Similarly, we understand our residents’ desire for peace and relaxation, and provide space indoors and outside for this purpose. Our beautiful garden has been purposefully designed to promote tranquility and stimulate the senses. It has flowers and a water feature, as well as a summer house, numerous beds and vegetable patches, and a greenhouse where we enjoy growing our own vegetables and fruit. The home has its own kitchenette in one of the dining rooms to support people in remaining independent, making their own drinks and even helping with the dishes if they want to.
There is wi-fi throughout the home, so your loved ones can keep in touch via video and phone calls. We also have laptops for people to use if they wish to surf the internet or do some online shopping.
Family members and friends are welcome to visit as and when they like. Drinks and snacks are always available and we are happy to provide meals for visitors by prior arrangement.

I started off my career in the care industry as a domiciliary care worker almost 20 years ago before changing to work in residential care. This is where I found my passion for working with people with mental health difficulties and dementia. I have worked my way from care assistant to registered manager. I feel a sense of pride when I have helped someone achieve something, no matter how big or small this may be. The smile on residents faces mean so much. I have faced many challenges throughout my career but have always battled through to achieve the best outcomes for people, both staff and residents. I hope to aspire my staff to aim high and develop their career in the same way that I have. This is more than just a job to me.
We are more than a Nursing Home, we are a family unit. I have an amazing team to support me and together we can make such a difference to people’s lives.
